Meet Zelon Harrison

2026 Candidate for WCCUSD School Board | Area 4

Mother. Advocate. Education Justice Leader.

Zelon Harrison is a proud West County mother and one of the region’s most trusted advocates for children, families, and educational justice. Her journey into leadership began the same way it does for so many parents; by fighting to ensure her children had access to safe, equitable, and thriving schools. What started as a personal mission quickly grew into a powerful movement for change.

As a mother, Zelon understands firsthand the hopes, fears, and dreams that families carry into our school system. She knows what it feels like to demand answers, to push for accountability, and to stand up when something isn’t right. Her advocacy is rooted in love for her child and a deep belief that every family deserves a school system that protects, values, and uplifts their children.

That commitment led her to take on leadership roles across the district and State of California. Zelon currently serves as Chair of the AASAT and Member-at-Large on the DLCAP, where she helps guide the policies and budget decisions that shape outcomes for every child in WCCUSD. She also serves in key state-level education roles, working tirelessly to close systemic gaps for our families.

Beyond policy, Zelon is a Nontraditional Black Wellness Healer, integrating community care, cultural practice, and restorative principles into her leadership. She believes healing and justice must go hand in hand because schools can only thrive when families do. As a mother, advocate, and national voice for equity, Zelon is running for WCCUSD School Board, Area 4, because she refuses to accept anything less than justice for our children.
